FAQ
As well as being exceptionally soft, linen's natural long fibers help to regulate your body temperature as you sleep with its breathability and high moisture absorbency. It's also perfectly weighted which helps to ease you into a wonderful deep sleep.
Linen is perfect for every season - fresh in the summer and warm in the winter. Another great quality of linen bedding is that it gets softer and softer with wear. The production of linen is very sustainable as every part of the flax plant can be used. It is a rotation crop, farmed naturally in small batches. Head to our Journal to find out more about the wonderful fabric that is linen, as well as information on how to care for your linen bedding.
All our 100% linen bedding and linen blend bedding is made by our partner in Portugal. Their family-run textile mill is set in a charming historic city, surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards and lush greenery. With a century of expertise, the mill has grown from two secondhand looms to a thriving business with 70 in action today. The linen we use across all of our linen collections is sourced from Europe and is OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certified. Head to our Journal to find out more about linen - one of the most sustainable fabrics on the market - as well as information on how to care for your linen bedding.
Woven from a mix of 55% European linen and 45% long staple cotton, our linen blend bedding combines the effortless look of linen with the softness of cotton.
All the cotton in our bedding and towels is sourced in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative, the world’s leading sustainability initiative for cotton. The cotton is then woven and sewn in Portugal and China, in facilities that are OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certified. Head to our Journal to find out all about our cotton bedding and towel collections, from sourcing information to care instructions.
All of our cotton towels are made in Portugal, in a facility accredited to OEKO-Tex Standard 100 and with a BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) high rating of A. All of the cotton in our towels is sourced in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative. Better Cotton is the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme with the aim of helping cotton communities thrive while protecting and restoring the environment. Head to our Journal to find all the important details on our towel collection, from sourcing information to care instructions.
Our wool blankets are made in Yorkshire from 100% non-mulesed merino wool. The blankets are skillfully woven by one of the UK’s oldest wool mills, using local craftsmanship and traditional methods. To meet the makers of our woolen blanket collection and learn more about their methods and sustainability practices, read our Journal post entitled In Bed With…Moon.
The merino wool in our bedding inserts (duvets, pillows and mattress toppers) is sourced from Italy and is certified to be humanely sourced from flocks that are free-range and not farmed. The bedding is then produced by a family run company in Romania. Find out more about the benefits of sleeping in merino wool as well as everything you need to know about caring for your merino wool bedding in our Journal. Alternatively, you can hear our founder Jessica Hanley talk about our collection in this informative video!
There is a common misconception that linen Is a tricky fabric to care for but it is actually very durable and low maintenance.
Linen is a natural fabric that becomes softer and more absorbent with use (which is why we are such big fans) and Is a breeze to care for. Here are a few pointers to help you make your linens last.
Washing:
Linen can be machine washed as well as hand washed. However, dry cleaning is not recommended.
Wash on a warm gentle cycle. A 40 degree wash is perfect for removing dirt and natural body oils, dissolving washing detergent as well as being eco-friendly.
An extra rinse will ensure that any powder residue Is removed as this can deteriorate linen fibres affecting their longevity.
Use a mild detergent and skip the fabric softener. Linen softens dramatically over time so no need to add softener.
Drying:
Air drying Is best but can leave your bedding feeling a touch stiff at first. To remedy this, we recommend a combination of line and machine drying. Stick your bedding In to the dryer for 10 minutes to soften, then hang on the line or spread flat whilst still damp to allow gravity to get rid of wrinkles.
Please note that linen dries faster than cotton so adjust tumble drier times accordingly to avoid scorching.
Ironing:
At Piglet we love the effortless, elegant texture of natural linen, however, they can be ironed whilst damp with a medium-hot iron, or steamed.
Stain Removal:
We strongly advise trying to tackle any stains as soon as possible by sprinkling with baking soda and adding a few drops of vinegar then blotting (not scrubbing). Bleaching Is not recommended as It breaks down fabric fibres.
Storage:
We recommend storing your bedding in your Piglet linen bag when not in use to prolong longevity.
The choice between the three fabrics is really down to personal preference, but if you need help deciding, head to our Journal and take a look at our Bedding Fabric Buying Guide to find out which bed linen fabric is right for you.
We understand that sometimes you need to see and feel the real thing before deciding, especially when it comes to your bedding. You can order up to five free fabric swatches. Simply click on a color and click on “order swatch sample”.
We believe the best homes aren't perfect, they're personal. Our Bundle Builders are designed with this in mind, and our Linen Bundle Builder and Cotton Bundle Builder let you mix and match duvet covers, pillowcases, sheets and other bedding extras to create a look that's completely unique to you and your home.
Yes it can! Make your sleepwear extra personal by adding your own initials or someone else’s for a very thoughtful gift. You can add this by selecting “add monogramming” underneath your chosen pajamas. Choose from six thread colors and up to three letters. Currently this service is only available on our men and women’s pajama sets, as well as our night shirts. The initials will be sewn above the breast pocket.

Our candles are made from a clean-burning soy wax blend and have a total burn time of around 50 hours.
To make the most of it:
- On the first burn, allow the candle to burn for 4–5 hours or until the entire surface has melted to the edges. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures an even burn.
- Trim the wick to around 5mm before each burn to avoid smoke and uneven flames.
- Always burn your candle on a heatproof surface and never leave it unattended.
Yes – this can happen when the oil has been stored in cooler conditions. The natural ingredients may cause the oil to look cloudy, but this will clear up once it returns to room temperature.
