Tart cherry juice has been popping up all over my feeds lately, and the general consensus seems to be that it does wonders for our sleep. Full of melatonin, which helps to regulate our sleep, tart cherry juice can help to reduce inflammation, aid muscle soreness, and boost your immune system.
If like me, you have been dabbling in dry (or damp) January but are after a little evening soother, this mocktail recipe is just the thing. Accompanied by fellow antioxidants: ginger and citrus juice, this non-alcoholic nightcap certainly hit the spot.
Makes two mocktails -
Ingredients:
15ml maple syrup
28ml lemon juice
28ml lime juice
Sprig of rosemary
Sprig of mint
230ml tart cherry juice
Small knob of ginger
Ice
Sparkling water
Method:
Into a mason jar or cocktail shaker add the maple syrup and citrus juices, followed by the rosemary and mint; then use a muddler to crush the herbs to release their aromas.
Grate the ginger, add the tart cherry juice and stir (shake if using a cocktail shaker). Strain and divide between two glasses over ice, and then top up the remainder of the glass with sparkling water.
Top with a garnish of rosemary and enjoy!
