Four Interiors Trends That are Currently Huge on Pinterest

Pinterest has long been our go-to platform for interior inspiration, and we love to see the micro trends that emerge via the most popular keyword searches each season. We should say that we don’t believe that you should try to keep up with the fast-paced trend cycle and should instead focus on what works for you - investing in key, good quality pieces that will see you through each turn of the season - however that may look to you. Nonetheless, keeping an eye on trends can help you to find your own sense of taste and there’s nothing to say that you can’t cherry-pick elements to create a pastiche of styles that’s unique to you.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the interior trends that are exciting people this winter and beyond!

Earthy Aesthetic

A popular trend to emerge amongst Gen Z is the ‘earthy aesthetic’ or as they refer to it on TikTok, ‘dark academia’. Think moody colors including Forest Green and Olive, rustic natural textures, and autumnal foliage. This particular trend is no doubt very tied to the Fall/Winter season when staying in and creating a warm and cozy home is much more appealing than venturing outside.

Photographer Lydia Harper has created a beautiful, earthy bedroom scheme by pairing our Dove Gray bedlinen with a rustic, olive-colored backdrop and other natural textures including a feather wall hanging. As for tablescapes, here’s your chance to get quite eclectic with your accessories. Vintage or charity shop glass bottles, mismatched ceramic crockery, some garden foliage as well as linen table linens such as our Oatmeal Tablecloth and Navy Napkins set a classically earthy scene.

Cozy Farmhouse Ideas

A not too distant relative from the earthy aesthetic is the ‘cozy farmhouse’ trend. Again no surprise that this trend becomes popular in the colder months when every Christmas movie tells us we should be snuggled up by the fire in a remote village drinking hot cocoa! Without tooting our own horn too much, our new Merino Wool Loungewear range is perfect for this trend. The wonderful Angie from @countyroadliving has a beautiful farm house in Indiana and our Dove Gray Chunky Knit Sweater and Dove Gray Wide Legged Pants look so cozy amongst her white interior with its rustic wood beams. You can create a cozy farmhouse-style dinner table by bringing the outside in with seasonal foliage or even fruit and veg such as pumpkins and squash during Fall scattered across the table.

Minimalist Decor

Before you start to worry that we’re returning to the harsh minimalist interiors of the 90s, do not fear, 2021’s take on minimalism allows for an element of cozy - shelves don’t have to be totally stripped of any of your belongings this time around. The clean, straight lines of the 90s are still being coveted by minimalist enthusiasts, yet natural touches such as house plants and natural textures are being used to add warmth. Our neutral bedding colorways such as Luna Stripe and Oatmeal work perfectly in combination with this trend.

Eclectic but Vintage

Last but not least and one for the color lovers, we have the ‘eclectic but vintage’ trend. Here’s your chance to unleash your creativity: large patterned rugs, colorful wallpaper, lots of wall art and hidden vintage gems are key to recreating this style. You can now get eclectic in your choice of bedding sets at Piglet in Bed with our new Mix & Match Bundle option - you can create a bundle that’s unique to you or your loved one by hand-picking between each of our 15 stonewashed colorways when it comes to choosing each part of the set - hurrah!
