We've entered the ‘just a few more bits to get, and I’m there’ period, which always seems to last an eternity; nipping to the supermarket for endless groceries and picking up a couple of panic gifts for the relative who has managed to squeeze in on Christmas day.
For a last-minute homemade gift, addition to your festive tipples, or a present to take over for your holiday host, then look no further than this Christmas-infused syrup. I personally will be adding mine into Aperol Spritz with a festive spin, but it works as a great base for other cocktails and mocktails. An extra bonus is your kitchen will smell like Santa’s grotto as you whip it up – enjoy!
Makes roughly 500ml

500g sugar
400g cranberries
An orange – zest and then sliced
1-2 Cinnamon sticks
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Cinnamon
1-2 Stair Anaise

Add all ingredients to a pan and gently simmer away until the cranberries have softened completely the liquid has thickened and taken on the cranberry juices (takes roughly 15-20 minutes).
Wait for it to cool slightly, then strain and pour into your vessel.
