Homes are starting to glow with the warm hues of autumn, leaves crunch underfoot, and cozy evenings are just around the corner. There’s something so comforting about stepping into a home that smells inviting and seasonal; why not try making an autumn simmer pot to fill your space with the rich, warming scents of the season?
- 1 large orange, sliced in rounds
- 1 apple, sliced in rounds
- 3 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole star anise pods
Place all of the ingredients in a medium size pot and fill with enough water to cover. Then, bring to a boil and then decrease the heat to a simmer. Leave the burner on low and let simmer for however long you’d like.
You can even leave the pot in different rooms for a period of time. Bring back to the stove to get it steaming again. Refresh the water as needed and make sure not to keep the stove on overnight! You can reuse the ingredients for about 3-4 days before discarding them, just keep topping up with fresh water.
