At Piglet we strive to make sustainable and environmentally conscious decisions every day. From plastic free packaging to re-usable water bottles, we believe a lot of the most impactful changes start with small steps which can be upheld on a regular basis and become second nature.
Today we’ve put together three simple kitchen based eco-friendly swaps you can easily integrate into your daily life. We think these are easy, accessible ways to start making sustainable choices. Hope you find them helpful!
1. Re-usable produce bags
These are re-usable mesh grocery bags for your fruit and veg to replace the single-use plastic bags you would ordinarily place these items in. They are available everywhere (my local supermarket sells a basic version right in the fruit and veg aisle) and easily thrown in your handbag and carried around. Actually a bit chic, don’t you think?
2. Metal straws
Such an easy swap to make. Super simple to clean (the super affordable IKEA ones actually come with their own tiny scrub brush), these babies basically last forever. Definitely a no-brainer.
3. Beeswax food wraps
These waxed paper alternatives to foil and cling-film have gained popularity and I’ve seen them in most of my local grocery shops but you can easily find some DIY online tutorials if you fancy getting crafty. They are perfect to wrap up cheese, half-used fruit and veg or even for your lunchtime sandwich. And they make the inside of your fridge look satisfyingly organised too!
